ONLINE DD-214 ACCESS
You can now access your DD-214 online!  Military veterans and the next of kin of deceased former military members may now use a new online military personnel records system to request documents.  Other individuals with a need for documents must still complete the Standard Form 180, which can be downloaded from the online website.
The new web based application was designed to provide better service on those requests by eliminating the records center's mail room processing time.  Also, because the requester will be asked to supply all information essential for NPRC to process the request, delays that normally occur when NPRC has to ask veterans for additional information will be minimized.
Veterans and next of kin may access this application at:
http://vetrecs.archives.gov
This new website, and the Form 180 option, should make it simple for most veterans to verify their military service for veteran's benefits and for membership eligibility in service organizations.

American Legion Extension Institute
The Extension Institute is back!
It was developed to provide every member of The American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary and Sons of The American Legion an opportunity to learn and discover the rich history, programs, policies, developments, positions and future goals of our organization.
This concise and comprehensive set of books returns to the original format of the Extension Institute, which was a course of study with chapter review tests and a final examination upon the completion of the materials. It consists of a set of four reference/study books with the fifth book being an introduction to the course, including a list of national officers and the national headquarters staff.
The primary purpose of this handy reference set, adapted for daily use, is an educated, informed and knowledgeable membership. Men and women who are “in the know” have the understanding that keeps our organization strong and growing. An educated and informed member spells success - if you are interested in knowing more about The American Legion, order your Extension Institute today.
You can order a single set for your own use, to use for study groups, give-aways, fund-raisers, membership incentives, etc. at Emblem Sales.

For more information on the Extension Institute go to the Extension Institute area in Emblem Sales

Some Words From Our Members

"It is not the price you pay to belong...it is the price you paid to be eligible.  Many would join if they could...Many could join if they would."

The above was provided by Dallas Matte, Post 225, Church Point - origin of the quote was Jim Caudell from Post 179, Sulphur.  This was on a plaque that once held a place in their old home; however, the fire of '98 destroyed it.  Many thanks to Dallas Matte, Michael Roach, and Russell Henry.
