Educator Of The Year

Applications of candidates for the 2012 Educator of the Year Award must be in to Program Chairman Les Cromwell by March 15, 2012.

The Louisiana American Legion "Educator of the Year" Award program serves to recognize those dedicated and devoted individuals who, on a consistent basis, give so much of themselves on behalf of the children of Louisiana.....our Teachers.
Many programs within Louisiana schools conducted by the Louisiana American Legion and other organizations are designed to recognize and benefit the students of our school systems.  No known program recognizes the work performed by teachers, not only in assisting our organizations with these programs but more importantly recognizing the contributions made by teachers on a day-in, day-out basis.

Just like veterans, teachers are the unsung heroes of this nation who build our nations future by working with the youth of today.  The Department's Education and Scholarship Committee believe the presentation of an "Educator of the Year" award within the Louisiana American Legion will serve to strengthen the bonds that exist between The American Legion, the schools of Louisiana, and the administrators and educators of these schools.  We believe that this program will increase the recognition and exposure of the Louisiana American Legion within our schools and be beneficial to Louisiana schools and students for years to come.
Click on the links below to read and/or print more information on the program.  Contact Department HQ at 225-219-1945 or email
