2013 Oratorical Contest

On Sunday, March 10th, Nicholson Post 38 in Baton Rouge served as host for the Department of Louisiana’s 2013 Oratorical Finals, held to determine the contestant that will advance to represent the Department of Louisiana at the National Oratorical Scholarship Competition in Indiana, Indiana on April 19-21, 2013. Seven Districts were represented at the Department Contest and all seven contestants performed magnificently, leaving the unenviable task  of determining the winner to the five Judges.

1st place and winner of a $1000 cash award and the contestant chosen to represent the Department of Louisiana at the National Oratorical Scholarship Contest was Cody Allen Dedon of District 6. 2nd place winner of a $500 cash award was Monique Kathryn Claiborne of District 7 and 3rd place and winner of a $250 cash award was Darione Powell of District 2.
